Bible Verses for Cancer
Whether you are the one fighting or the one who loves her, cancer makes every day feel like a verdict waiting to be read. It is not. These verses are for the fighters and the caregivers — honest about the fear, stubborn about the hope.
Cancer changes the vocabulary of your days, but not the character of God. Second Timothy 1:7 says “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control,” and Nahum 1:7 promises, “The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of distress.”

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My right hand of righteousness.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, “You are my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me.
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
For the choirmaster. Of the sons of Korah. According to Alamoth. A song. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble.
Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—whom shall I dread?
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.
He does not fear bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.
For the days of treatment
Treatment weeks have their own rhythm of dread and relief. Second Corinthians 12:9 carries God’s answer to exhausted people: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Sufficient for this infusion, this scan, this night — and then the next.
When fear gets loud
Keep 2 Timothy 1:7 close — it is one of Scripture’s most-carried verses for a reason. Fear will visit; you do not have to set a place for it. “The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of distress; He cares for those who trust in Him” (Nahum 1:7).
Praying for a friend with cancer
Do not wait for the right words — bring hers. Pray her name, her appointments, her family, her sleep. And let 2 Corinthians 1:4 shape you: we comfort others “with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” Presence is the ministry.
A prayer for the fight
Lord, You know every cell of my body, and nothing in me is hidden from You. Meet me in the fear and in the waiting rooms. Strengthen me for the treatment ahead, and hold the people who love me. Keep my hope anchored in You. Let Your grace be enough for today, and tomorrow, and the day after. I am Yours, whatever comes. Amen.
