Bible Verses for a New Pregnancy
Two lines on a test, and suddenly the future has a heartbeat. Alongside the joy there may be a new, fierce protectiveness — even worry. That is love arriving early. These verses are for the months of watching and waiting.
A new pregnancy is wonder wrapped in vulnerability. Psalm 139:13 says of the little one, “You formed my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb,” and Luke 1:45 blesses the believing mother: “Blessed is she who has believed.”
For You formed my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works, and I know this very well.
Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord’s word to her will be fulfilled.”
I prayed for this boy, and since the LORD has granted me what I asked of Him,
Children are indeed a heritage from the LORD, and the fruit of the womb is His reward.
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My right hand of righteousness.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
‘May the LORD bless you and keep you; may the LORD cause His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; may the LORD lift up His countenance toward you and give you peace.’
The LORD will guard you from all evil; He will preserve your soul. The LORD will watch over your coming and going, both now and forevermore.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.
For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.
Praying for a healthy pregnancy
Pray over this baby the way Hannah prayed before Samuel was even conceived — specifically, often, out loud if it helps. “Children are indeed a heritage from the LORD, and the fruit of the womb is His reward” (Psalm 127:3). This little one is His before he or she is yours.
When anxiety visits at 3am
Pregnancy worry loves the night. Answer it with Philippians 4:6-7: present every request to God, and let His peace guard your heart. The God knitting this child together is awake even when you finally fall asleep.
A prayer for a new pregnancy
Lord, thank You for this small, secret life. Watch over the forming of every tiny part. Keep this baby safe and growing, and keep me healthy and calm. Quiet the what-ifs when they come at night. Let this pregnancy be held in Your hands from the first heartbeat to the first cry. We receive this gift with open hands and grateful hearts. Amen.
